Frequently Asked Questions

Company & Background

Everything you need to know about who we are and what drives us.

  • Perimeter Protection and Surveillance Systems is a national video security company founded by Kenny Binnings. We design, deploy and monitor intelligent camera systems built to harden assets, minimize risk and ensure operational continuity — protecting people, property and critical operations across the country from a single management portal.

  • Kenny Binnings is the founder of Perimeter Protection and Surveillance Systems. In 1988, witnessing the aftermath of a home invasion firsthand changed everything for him. That experience sparked a mission to help others protect what matters most — a mission that has guided the company for nearly four decades. As Kenny puts it: "I'm passionate about protection, safety and security. Protecting yourself isn't difficult. Most people just don't know how and that's why we're here." Kenny works closely with community leaders, business leaders, operational managers, PD, asset managers, C-suite and city/state governments to build city-wide, multi-site video security solutions that harden campus environments, clean energy sites, commercial properties, community and residential spaces, construction sites, critical infrastructure and private, custom estates.

  • After witnessing the devastating impact of a home invasion in 1988, Kenny Binnings set out to create solutions that stop threats before they reach the door. What began as a residential alarm company in Southern California evolved through a core insight: true security means strengthening the perimeter first. That philosophy became the foundation of Perimeter Protection and Surveillance Systems.

  • Kenny Binnings has owned and operated security companies for over 36 years, dating back to 1988. His company pioneered custom security automation in Southern California as early as 1991, and some of those original clients remain today — a testament to the relationships and results built over decades.  Perimeter Protection and Surveillance Systems was formed in 2009 and has grown from a Southern CA based company to a national company, designing, installing and supporting solutions across the United States.

  • Perimeter Protection was built on the belief that proactive, AI-powered monitoring outperforms reactive recording. Rather than simply recording an incident in progress, our team receives an alert, verifies threats in real time, engages authorities immediately and triggers on-site deterrents to stop incidents before they escalate. Kenny Binnings brings over 35 years of multi-million dollar technology program management experience to every client engagement — combining enterprise-level expertise with the personal accountability of a family-run business. As a result, clients benefit through a focused lens of designing, implementing and supporting technology-based security solutions that solve business problems while increasing safety, security and risk mitigation for national and international clients.

  • Yes. In 2026, Perimeter Protection launched a national expansion, enabling clients to deploy and manage systems at locations across the country and internationally from a single unified portal. The platform is designed to scale from one site to hundreds without significant infrastructure requirements. Multi-site, multi-state, multi-country, multi-continent....one portal giving visibility across all of your assets.

Deployment & Setup

How Perimeter Protection gets your system online quickly and efficiently.

  • Perimeter Protection's wireless systems can be deployed and operational in minutes — not months. Because every unit is preconfigured before it ships, your team arrives on site with equipment that is ready to activate. Perimeter Protection provides remote support throughout installation to ensure the system comes online without delay.

  • No specialized technical expertise is required. TotalSite™ systems are designed to be client-deployed using standard tools. Wireless systems install using tie wraps, wood screws or magnetic mounts. Every device ships preconfigured with AI settings, alert rules and user access already provisioned. Perimeter Protection's team is available for remote support throughout the installation process.

  • Yes. Perimeter Protection's team provides remote setup support throughout installation and performs a final configuration validation once the system is online. This ensures devices are connected, alerts are functioning and the system is fully operational before the support call ends.

  • "Client-deployed, provider-managed" means that your team handles the physical installation on site while Perimeter Protection manages everything else — preconfiguration, AI settings, alert rules, system health monitoring, remote configuration changes and ongoing support. This model reduces costs, speeds up deployment and ensures professional oversight without requiring you to maintain in-house technical staff.

  • Before any TotalSite™ system ships, Perimeter Protection configures all hardware, AI analytics, alerting rules and user access credentials. The system arrives ready to activate — the only remaining step is physical installation and final connectivity validation by the remote support team.

  • Yes. The TotalSite™ platform is built for national and international deployment. Organizations can manage any number of sites — from a single location to thousands across multiple countries — from one unified portal. Scaling does not require significant infrastructure investment, making it straightforward to grow coverage as your needs expand.

Monitoring

How Perimeter Protection's monitoring center keeps your sites protected around the clock.

  • Perimeter Protection offers two monitoring options: 24/7 Professional Monitoring, which is the recommended choice, and Self-Monitoring. Monitoring preferences can be set on a per camera basis.

  • With 24/7 Professional Monitoring, trained operators at Perimeter Protection's central station verify AI-filtered alerts, follow your escalation protocols and coordinate with law enforcement in real time. With Self-Monitoring, your team receives AI-filtered alerts via app, email or dashboard and handles responses internally. Perimeter Protection strongly recommends professional monitoring — real-world cases have shown that clients who chose to self-monitor are more prone to missing the actual incident than 24/7 professional monitoring services.

  • When an AI-verified alarm is triggered, Perimeter Protection's central monitoring station immediately reviews the event, follows your predefined escalation protocols and takes action — which can include contacting the police department, notifying the property owner, triggering on-site sirens and speakers and logging an after-action report. The average time to deliver event images to the central station is 7 seconds.

  • Yes. Perimeter Protection's professional monitoring team will contact the appropriate law enforcement agency based on your predefined escalation protocols. In 2024 alone, the central station engaged 196 police dispatches across its monitored client base.

  • When a camera detects motion, Perimeter Protection's AI filtering analyzes the event to determine whether it represents a genuine threat or a false positive. Verified alarms are immediately sent to the 24/7 professional monitoring center, where trained operators review the footage, follow escalation procedures and dispatch the appropriate response — including police notification and on-site siren activation.

  • Perimeter Protection's AI filtering analyzes every camera trigger before an alert is escalated. Events that do not meet pre-defined criteria for a verified threat are suppressed, dramatically reducing the volume of false alerts that reach operators or clients. False alerts have been reduced by more than 90 percent compared to non-AI-filtered systems.

  • TotalSite™ systems deliver event images to Perimeter Protection's central monitoring station in an average of 7 seconds — enabling rapid human review and faster threat response.

  • Yes. RabidDeploy™ systems support automatic siren activation as part of the escalation process. When AI determines a verified alarm, local sounders can be triggered immediately to warn off intruders and minimize potential damage — even before law enforcement arrives on scene.

Performance & Reliability

The numbers behind Perimeter Protection's proven track record.

  • In 2024, Perimeter Protection monitored more than 250,000 events, verified 227 genuine threats, engaged 196 police dispatches and recorded zero break-ins at professionally monitored sites. The company achieved an 8-year zero break-in record for a monitored HOA and has been recognized as Best Security Company by the City of Placentia in both 2024 and 2025.

  • Zero. Perimeter Protection's professional monitoring approach has resulted in zero break-ins at sites under active TotalSite™ monitored coverage. This record is a direct result of AI-verified threat detection, rapid escalation to law enforcement and on-site deterrents that interrupt criminal activity before it can be completed.

  • Perimeter Protection's professional monitoring averages approximately $0.17 per hour per camera, compared to roughly $30 per hour for a human security guard. That represents a cost reduction of more than 99 percent while delivering superior detection capability, faster response times and 24/7 coverage without fatigue, distraction or gaps in attention.

  • TotalSite™ systems maintain 99% uptime. Perimeter Protection continuously monitors system health with proactive notifications issued if any device requires attention — ensuring consistent protection without gaps in coverage.

  • Every event captured by a TotalSite™ camera is analyzed by Perimeter Protection's AI before being escalated. The system distinguishes genuine threats from environmental triggers such as animals, lighting changes or vegetation movement. As a result, Perimeter Protection’s RabidDeploy™ solutions have delivered zero false positives to clients from its monitored event pool — meaning every alert that reaches an operator or client represented a verified, real-world concern.
